Let Us Obey the Word of The Lord
Jeremiah 7:1-11. 21-23
Introduction: I was born and raised in the church.
• When Covid-19 plagued
• us and had us shut down, I really missed coming here.
• Once that season ended, I was happy, and excited to return. A Call to Change Their ways 1-7
• Jeremiah was called by God to stand in the gates of the LORD’S house to proclaim for the people to reform, or amend their ways.
• Why did Jeremiah tell the people to change their ways?
• The people were putting too much emphasis in the temple rituals, then their relationship with the LORD.
• Sometimes we can put too much emphasis in our church rituals than do in our relationship with the LORD. The People thought they could remain in sin and still honor the LORD with their rituals 8-11
• They thought it was ok to mistreat one another and still honor God.
• The way we treat each other matters to God.
• God told Judah “Behold, I, even I, have seen it,”.
• God sees everything we do. God Requires Obedience vs Sacrifices 21-23
• To God, the burnt offerings and sacrifices were meaningless a part from obedience.
• God told them what He required from their ancestors.
• Not the burnt offerings and sacrifices, but to obey His voice.
• If they obeyed His voice, they will have a relationship with us.
• The same goes for us.
• Let us obey the word of the Lord.
