TEXT: I PETER 1:17-21

INTRODUCTION

1. We saw a lot of favoritism on today
2. Pictures, smiles and applause
3. Internal competition (“My child did better.”)
4. We all live with the reality of favoritism…
5. Favorite child / Favorite family member / favorite friend / etc.
6. Sometimes you are the favorite and sometimes you are not

GOD HAS NO FAVORITES

1. God does not love me less than anyone else
2. God does not love me more than anyone else
3. God will judge me based upon me
4. Therefore, God is worthy of reverence

I AM VALUABLE TO GOD

1. How much am I worth?
2. To God, I am worth more than silver and gold
3. Value is determined by how much you will pay for something
4. What did God pay for me? The precious blood of Jesus, the Christ

JESUS WAS BORN TO DIE

1. We know that everyone who is born will die
2. However, Jesus was born to die
   1. Although He was a cute little baby in the manger…
   2. Although as a boy He was wise enough to debate with the leaders…
   3. Although He performed many miracles that assisted humanity…
   4. Although He performed many miracles that defied nature…
   5. Although He established many human relationships…
   6. Although He brought hope to a hopeless world…
   7. Although He…
3. Because Jesus was born to die, I now live
   1. I have faith
   2. I have hope

CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK: KNOWING THAT JESUS WAS BORN TO DIE FOR ME, WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN ME
