                        TITLE: ONE STRIKE AND YOU’RE OUT - MOSES

INTRODUCTION

  3. Are we taunting God regarding God’s patience and longsuffering?
  4. Moses was faithful to God
  5. God spoke with Moses face to face -- Exodus 33:11, 11 So the Lord spoke to

Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.

  1. Moses saw God (God’s backside) – Exodus 33:22, 23,22 So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by. 23 Then I will take away My hand, and you

shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.” 

  1. The significance of Moses’ life

SITUATION

  1. The people have no water
  2. The people argue and complain to Moses

MOSES AND AARON GO TO GOD

  1. They go from the presence of the people to the presence of God
  2. They fall on their faces before God
  3. The glory of the Lord appeared to them

WHAT GOD SAID

  1. Take the rod
  2. You and Aaron gather the people together
  3. Speak to the rock before their eyes

WHAT MOSES DID

  1. Moses took the rod
  2. Moses and Aaron gathered the people together
  3. Moses spoke to the people
  4. Moses hit the rock twice

CONSEQUENCE

  1. Moses and Aaron would not bring the people in to the land
  2. Because Moses did not believe in the Lord
  3. Because Moses did not honor the Lord as holy before the eyes of the

people

Moses would see it with his eyes, but not cross over to enter it
