TITLE: EXERCISING FAITH OVER FEAR
TEXT: JOSHUA 10:1-15
INTRODUCTION
- People are saying, “God is doing something in this.” or :”God is saying something in this.”
- Let us be clear, God did not just start doing and talking
- God said, “Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged.”
- It is the difference between 4 and 2?
- The king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua totally destroyed Ai as he did Jericho
- The king heard that Gibeon had made peace with Israel
- The king convinced four other kings to help him attack Gibeon
- The Gibeonites called on Joshua to assist them
- Joshua and his entire army, including his mighty men of valor, came…
GOD WAS SPEAKING “WHAT WAS” WHILE JOSHUA WAS SEEKING “WHAT WILL”
- God said, “I have given you the victory…” before Joshua started fighting
- God was already in the future watching it happen
- God has given you the victory before you start fighting
- Do not focus on what you see. Focus on what God said
GOD SAID WHAT GOD SAID
- Joshua 1:5, “No one shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life”
- Joshua 10:8, “Not one of them shall stand before you”
- Aren’t you glad that God says what He said?
- Even more, aren’t you glad that God does what He said?
GOD DOES WHAT GOD SAID
- God threw them into confusion before Israel who
- Defeated them at Gibeon
- Chased them along the road to Beth Horon and struck them down
- God threw down large hailstones from heaven (more died from the hailstones than the children of Israel killed with the sword)
- God causes the sun to stand still for Joshua
