TITLE: MEN OF VALOR: BARNABAS
TEXT: ACTS 9:26, 27; 11:20-24; 15:12
INTRODUCTION
- Adam, the first man
- “28…fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:28)
- 19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought themto Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that wasits name. (Genesis 2:19)
- 22 Then the rib which the LordGod had taken from man He [h]made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23 And Adam said: “This isnow bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.” (Genesis 2:22, 23)
- Adam, the first man, was given two responsibilities
- To have dominion over every living thing that moves on the earth
- To name whoever and/or whatever comes before him
- Adam, the first man, fulfilled his responsibilities responsibly
- Men of Valor have two responsibilities:
- To have dominion over every living thing that moves on the earth
- To name whoever and/or whatever comes before you
- Men of Valor must fulfill your responsibilities responsibly
BARNABAS SAID SOMETHING FOR SAUL (ACTS 9:26)
- The disciples acknowledged Saul based upon the past
- Barnabas acknowledged Saul based upon the present
- Therefore, Barnabas said something for Saul
- Men of Valor say something…
BARNABAS SAW SOMETHING IN THE SAINTS (ACTS 11:20-24)
- Barnabas was sent to discern what was happening among the Gentile converts
- Therefore, Barnabas saw something the saints
- Men of Valor see something…
BARNABAS SILENCED THE SKEPTICS (ACTS 15:12)
- There was disagreement regarding the Gentile salvation
- Because of what Barnabas said and saw, he silenced the skeptics
- Men of Valor silence skeptics…
