JESUS LOVES ME THIS I KNOW

TITLE: JESUS LOVES ME THIS I KNOW; FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO

INTRODUCTION

A. It is one thing to love somebody

B. It is something else to know that you are loved

C. It is even more to know that you are loved by someone like Jesus

THEY KNEW THAT JESUS LOVED LAZARUS

A. “He whom You love is sick”

B. Not, “Lazarus is sick”

C. On the one hand, “he [she] whom you love...” would be everyone

D. On the other hand, “he [she] whom you love...” would be a specific one

E. Do you know that Jesus loves you?

ALTHOUGH IT DID NOT LOOK LIKE JESUS LOVED LAZARUS

A. Jesus loved Martha, Mary and Lazarus

B. So when Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick... [He responded in a way that looked like love]

C. So when Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick... [He responded in a way that did not look like love]

D. Has there been times when it looked like Jesus did not love you?

IT IS NOT AS BAD AS I THINK

A. “Let us go to Judea”

B. “Our friend, Lazarus, has fallen asleep, but now I will go and wake him up”

C. No Problem… “If he is asleep, he will get better”

D. Problem… “Lazarus is dead”

E. What is major to us is minor to Jesus

F. Because Jesus loves me,

CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK:

THAT I WILL FOCUS ON JESUS’ LOVE VERSUS MY SITUATION
