“It is Well…” Pastor Martin Childs, Jr.

TEXT: 2 KINGS 4:1-7

TITLE: “IT IS WELL…”

INTRODUCTION

A. Most of us would do almost anything for our children/family

1. In 1982, Tony Cavallo’s mom lifted a 1964 Chevrolet Impala

2. In 2006, Lydia Angiyou saved several children by fighting a polar bear until a local hunter shot it

3. In 2013, teenage sisters Hanna (age 16) & Haylee (age 14) lifted a tractor to save their father pinned underneath

B. Periodically, we have challenges with our children/families:

1. That we cannot fix

2. That is beyond our realm of expertise and resource

3. That raises more questions than answers

4. That have the potential to overwhelm us

C. I am stronger than I think I am

HOW CAN I SAY, “IT IS WELL?” [ DURING MY CHALLENGE ]

A. Where I Go Is What I Get

1. She went to the man of God (Presence of God)

2. Where do I go when I have challenges?

3. “Where I go is what I get…”

B. What I Have Is All I Need

1. The Man of God asked, “What do you have…?”

2. She replied, “I do not have anything, except… a small jar of oil”

a. Problem #1: She highlighted what she did not have

b. Problem #2: She diminished what she did have

3. Focus on what you do have….

4. No matter how insignificant; how ordinary; how simple

5. “What I have is all I need…”

C. What I Put In Determines What I Get Out

1. Man of God, “Go and asked your neighbors for many empty jars”

2. The oil kept pouring until the last jar was filled

3. “What I put in determines what I get out…”
