TITLE: “IT IS WELL…”
INTRODUCTION
A. Most of us would do almost anything for our children/family
1. In 1982, Tony Cavallo’s mom lifted a 1964 Chevrolet Impala
2. In 2006, Lydia Angiyou saved several children by fighting a polar bear until a local hunter shot it
3. In 2013, teenage sisters Hanna (age 16) & Haylee (age 14) lifted a tractor to save their father pinned underneath
B. Periodically, we have challenges with our children/families:
1. That we cannot fix
2. That is beyond our realm of expertise and resource
3. That raises more questions than answers
4. That have the potential to overwhelm us
C. I am stronger than I think I am
HOW CAN I SAY, “IT IS WELL?” [ BEFORE MY CHALLENGE ]
A. Hospitality
B. Humility
C. Hope
HOW CAN I SAY, “IT IS WELL?” [ DURING MY CHALLENGE ]
A. Where I Go Is What I Get
1. She went to the man of God (Presence of God)
2. Where do I go when I have challenges?
3. “Where I go is what I get…”
B. What I Have Is All I Need
1. The Man of God asked, “What do you have…?”
2. She replied, “I do not have anything, except… a small jar of oil”
a. Problem #1: She highlighted what she did not have
b. Problem #2: She diminished what she did have
3. Focus on what you do have….
4. No matter how insignificant; how ordinary; how simple
5. “What I have is all I need…”
C. What I Put In Determines What I Get Out
1. Man of God, “Go and asked your neighbors for many empty jars”
2. The oil kept pouring until the last jar was filled
3. “What I put in determines what I get out…”
