- We are encouraged to continue to do right and live right, even in the midst of whatever negative things others may say
C. What is the difference between humans and other creatures?
1. Humans are capable of thinking
- We can decide what we want to do and how we want to do it
2. Humans are conscious
- We can decide what we want to do and how we want to do it
3. Humans are intentional
- We can decide what we want to do and how we want to do it
D. Why is it important to treat people right?
SELF-FULFILLING PROPHESY:
A. In general, I determine how you treat me
- A condition/situation that causes it to be true, simply because I believe it
- The way I treat you is the way that you will treat me
B. I must consciously and intentionally think about what I want you to do to and for me
C. "What if the I other person does not return the good I am sharing?"
1. What I "Want" them to do…
2. What they "Will" do…
I CUT OFF MY OWN BLESSING:
A. Shut ears = conscious and intentional
B. Luke 16: The Rich Man and Lazarus
- The Rich Man failed to see Lazarus
- The Rich Man died and went to hell
- We are responsible for what we see/hear
- Who am I failing to see/hear?
C. Why did God give us 5 senses?
- So that we would be able to interact with the world
D. Why did God give us 5 spiritual senses?
- So that we would be able to interact with the world the way that God would
- They will bless me to be able to see/hear others the way that God sees them
E. There is a blessing in blessing others (Proverbs 19:17)
- We must do something to help others in whatever way is needed
- Whatever we give to others, we are lending it to God
- God will payback what we have given
- Whenever God gives back, he always gives you back more than what you have already given
