TITLE: HELPERS IN THE CHURCH

INTRODUCTION
A. “Many hands make the load light” African Proverb​
B. The Godhead works as a team: Father, Son and Holy Spirit​
C. God expects us to work in teams​
D. There are some things that we were never intended to do by ourselves ​
THE PEOPLE COMPLAINED
A. Numbers – It was about food ​
1. Dissatisfied with the manna
2. Moses felt the burden
B. Acts – It was about the food ​
1. Dissatisfaction with the distribution of food to the Greek speaking Jews
2. The Apostles felt the burden
C. If you have not experienced the burden of ministry, you may not be doing ministry ​

GOD PROVIDED HELPERS
A. Numbers ​
1. 70 Elders – Elders of the people and Officers over the people

2. To Stand with Moses
3. To Share with Moses (his Spirit and his burden)
B. Acts ​
1. 7 men – of Good reputation (outside) and Full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom (inside)
2. That we may appoint over this business
3. We will give ourselves continually to pray and the ministry of the word
C. Divisions of Assignments, not Significance ​
1. Pastors – Attend to the Spiritual Needs
2. Deacons – Attend to the Physical Needs
3. Trustees – Attend to the Fiscal Needs
TO RELIEVE THE BURDEN
A. Numbers ​
1. The LORD took some of the Spirit that was on Moses and placed it on them
2. They prophesied – only once
B. Acts ​
1. They set them before the Apostles, who prayed for them and laid hands on them
2. The word of God spread and the disciples multiplied
