TITLE: HELPERS IN THE CHURCH
INTRODUCTION
A. God’s work was never intended to be accomplished by one person…

C. If God’s work can be accomplished by one human, how great is our God?
D. God gives us God-sized assignments
DIVISION OF ASSIGNMENT, NOT SIGNIFICANCE
A. High Priest ---- Senior Pastor
B. Priests ---------- Associate Pastors
C. Levites --------- Deacons and Trustees
D. Congregation - Congregation
E. There is no Spiritual Gift of “Pew Sitting”
F. There are no “Sacred Seats”
PRIESTS’ DUTIES
A. Num 18:5 – To perform the duties in the sanctuary and at the altar
B. Deut 18:5 – To minister in the name of the LORD
C. Num 6:22-27 – To bless the people
D. Deut 21:5 – To minister to/before Him , and bless in the name of the LORD
E. I Chr 23:13 – To sanctify the most holy things, to offer sacrifices, to minister before Him, to give blessings in His name
LEVITES’ DUTIES
A. To be in charge of the Tabernacle
1. All of its furnishing and equipment and everything belonging to it
2. To carry the Tabernacle and all of its furnishings and equipment
3. To take care of the Tabernacle and camp around it
4. When the Tabernacle is to go forward, the Levites shall take it down; when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites will set it up
B. To serve / minister at the Tabernacle
1. To serve / minister to Aaron, the priest
2. To attend to the needs of Aaron, the priest
3. To attend to the needs of the whole congregation
4. To do the work [rustic labor, husbandry, agricultural activity, service, employment, business, construction, repairs, fine linen, worship, sacred, or divine service, furniture instruments, implements] of the Tabernacle
PRIESTS AND LEVITES: SEPARATED FOR GOD, AND GIFTS FROM GOD
A. Separated for God – Priests (I Chron 23:13), Levites (Num 8:13, 14)
B. Gifts from God – Priests (Num 18:7), Levites (Num 18:6)
