TEXT: JEREMIAH 1:4-19

TITLE:  HAS GOD TOUCHED YOU?

 I WANT MY LIFE TO BE THE EVIDENCE OF GOD’S TOUCH

INTRODUCTION

A.  Some things are not what they appear to be…

B.  It appears that we have an intimate relationship with God…

C.  But, do we really have an intimate relationship with God?

D.  The evidence is in my actions

CONVERSATION, WITH HESITATION

A.  Talking does not mean intimacy

  1.  Jeremiah was making excuses
  2. Jeremiah focused on what he could not do

B.  This is the type of conversation many of us have had with God

  1. Jeremiah was making excuses
  2. Jeremiah focused on what he could not do

C.  Talking to God is not intimacy with God

GOD’S TOUCH…

A.  God’s touch is intimate

  1. God touched Jeremiah’s mouth
  2. Who has touched your mouth? / Whose mouth have you touched?

B. God’s touch is intentional

  1. Jeremiah identified his weakness/problem/issue/challenge/?
  2. What is your weakness/problem/issue/challenge/?
  3. God desires to touch that area of your life

THE BLESSING OF GOD’S TOUCH

A.  Provision: God, “I have put My words in your mouth

B.  Promotion:  God, “I have set you over the nations and kingdoms

C.  Protection:  God, “I am watching to see that My Word is fulfilled”

THE BURDEN OF GOD’S TOUCH

A.  Speaking truth that people do not want to hear

  1. Jeremiah called out sin
  2. Jeremiah proclaimed God’s impending judgment
  3. Jeremiah is persecuted and imprisoned

B.  However,

  1. I have made you a fortified city, iron pillar and bronze walls  
  2. Against the kings, its princes, its priests and the people of the land
  3. They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you.
  4. For I am with you,” says the Lord, “to deliver you.”

 

CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK:  THAT MY LIFE WILL BE THE EVIDENCE OF GOD’S TOUCH
