EXPECTING EXPERIENCING MIRACLES – Pastor Martin Childs Jr. D. Min.

TITLE: EXPECTING EXPERIENCING MIRACLES

TEXT: JOHN 14:12-14

INTRODUCTION

  1. Ask for whatever you want in the name of Jesus…
  2. Additionally, Jesus promises that we will do equal and greater works
    1. Greater is a comparative word… (great // greater // greatest)
    2. Greater works than…? Atheist, false religions, un/under believers, …?
    3. Greater works than Jesus…!?!?!?!?!?

BELIEVE (BELIEVE IN JESUS / HAVE FAITH IN JESUS)

  1. Believe = pisteuō and Faith = pistis
  2. Believe / Have Faith in Jesus
    1. Yes, I have faith that Jesus existed, and performed miracles. Yes, I have faith that lead to my salvation. Yes, I have faith that Jesus is my Savior, Lord and Friend
    2. Understand, those are beliefs about Jesus, not in Jesus
    3. However, greater works only occur when we believe / have faith in Jesus
  3. What does it mean to believe in Jesus versus believing about Jesus?

HEAR (DO NOT QUENCH AND/OR GRIEVE THE INDWELLING HOLY

               SPIRIT)

  1. Jesus said, “…because I go to My Father”
  2. John 16:7, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I

will send Him to you.”

  1. Quench the Holy Spirit –
  2. 1 Thessalonians 5:19, “19 Do not quench the Spirit
  3. To quench the Holy Spirit is to intentionally disregard and ignore the leading and directing of the Holy Spirit. Quenching the Holy Spirit is putting out the fire of the Holy Spirit, thus rendering it ineffective in my life. When I quench the Holy Spirit, I break the Holy Spirit’s heart, and

subsequently, break God’s heart.

  1. Grieve the Holy Spirit –
  2. Ephesians 4:30, “30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God…
  3. To grieve the Holy Spirit is to intentionally commit, and continue to commit sin. In doing so, I break the Holy Spirit’s heart, and subsequently,

break God’s heart.

DO (KNOWING THAT JESUS IS WORKING THROUGH ME)

  1. Do…
  2. Philippians 4:13, “13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
  3. Ephesians 3:20, “20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us
