TEXT: MATTHEW 17:24-27
INTRODUCTION
A. Matthew 16:13-20 – Peter confessed that Jesus is the Christ
B. Matthew 17:1-9 – Peter witnesses Jesus transfigured, and affirmed that He is the
Christ
1. Moses – The Law – Died and was buried by God (Deuteronomy 34:5, 6)
2. Elijah – The Prophets – Was caught up in a whirlwind (2 Kings 2:11)
C. Although Peter confessed Jesus as the Christ, and affirmed Jesus as the Christ, he was lacking personal experience with the Christ
D. Therefore, Jesus used a supernatural process to accomplish a challenge that is usually resolved naturally
KNOW WHO I AM
A. Jesus is the Son of God
B. Jesus’ Sonship grants Him certain privileges
C. Do I know Jesus as the Son of God
D. What is my relationship with Jesus?
Creation of God Jesus is Savior
Offspring of God Jesus is Lord
Son / Daughter of God Jesus is Friend
DO WHAT I SAY
A. “Go fishing”
B. “Pull out the first fish”
C. “Open its mouth and take out the coin”
D. Do what I say…
1. Peter did what Jesus said
2. The fish did what Jesus said
E. Do I do what Jesus says?
RECEIVE THE BLESSING
A. “Pay My taxes”
B. “Pay your taxes”
C. Am I receiving blessings from Jesus?
