TITLE: EXPECTING EXPERIENCING MIRACLES

TEXT: MARK 16:9-20

INTRODUCTION

1. We generally get what we expect
2. What do you expect?

EXPECT NOTHING, RECEIVE NOTHING

1. Mary Magdalene – Told the Apostles that Jesus was alive and had been seen by her – They did not believe
2. Two of them traveling to Emmaus – Told the Apostles that Jesus appeared to

them – They did not believe them                                                            

MEETING JESUS, AGAIN, RAISES EXPECTATION

1. Jesus appeared to them
2. Jesus rebuked them
3. He rebuked their unbelief
4. He rebuked their hardness of heart
5. Because they did not believe those who had seen Him…
6. Jesus commanded them
7. Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature
8. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved
9. Whoever does not believe will be condemned
10. Jesus empowered them (“In My name…”)
11. They will cast out demons
12. They will speak with new tongues
13. They will pick up serpents
14. They will drink poison without being harmed
15. They will lay hands on the sick, and the sick will recover

EXPECT MUCH, RECEIVE MUCH

1. The Apostles went out
2. The Apostles preached everywhere
3. The Lord worked with them and confirmed the word with the accompanying
