SERMON TEXT: MARK 5:21-43
SERMON TITLE: DON’T GIVE UP, I’M ON MY WAY
INTRODUCTION
A. The story of Jairus and his daughter demonstrate great faith on the part of a religious leader.
B. The story of a woman demonstrates faith of a woman who could have expected to give up.
C. Sōzō…Greek word “to heal or to deliver from danger…salvation”
1. Jairus begs that Jesus might come and sōzō his daughter
2. Jesus says to the woman, Daughter your faith has sōzō you
JESUS DOES NOT PREFER ONE OVER THE OTHER
A. Jairus is well to do and influential
B. The woman with the hemorrhage is financially impoverished.
MY LITTLE DAUGHTER IS AT THE POINT OF DEATH
A. Jairus bowed downed and worshipped Him.
B. Come and lay hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live
C. Jesus went with Jairus.
DAUGHTER YOUR FAITH HAS MADE YOU WHOLE
A. A certain woman has an issue of blood for twelve years.
B. “If I just touch his clothes, I will be made well” (vs. 28)
“DON’T BE AFRAID..ONLY BELIEVE”
A. “Your daughter is dead, why trouble the Teacher anymore?” (vs. 35)
B. “Why do you make an uproar and weep? The child is not dead but asleep” (vs.39)
C. Talitha, cumi….Aramaic = Little girl, I say to you, rise.
