CONTEND (STAND OVER AND FIGHT) FOR THE FAITH?
A. Jude planned to write a letter regarding the shared doctrines of their Christian
beliefs
B. However, Jude found it necessary (felt compelled) to write regarding their need to contend (defend) for the faith
1. Contend = Used in athletic competitions
2. Contend = A determined struggle to defeat the opposition
3. Faith = The doctrines of Christianity
4. Entrusted to us by God for safe keeping
5. Once for all (no other faith will be given)
WHY CONTEND (STAND OVER AND FIGHT) FOR THE FAITH?
A. Certain people crept in unnoticed
1. Crept in = pareisdy(n)ō = duno (enter) / eis (into) / para (beside)
2. False teaching / Compromise teaching slips in alongside genuine teaching
B. Ungodly people
1. Teaching that God’s grace gives us a license to live immoral lives
2. Denying our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ
