Zechariah 8:4, 5
4 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Old men and old women shall again sit
In the streets of Jerusalem,
Each one with his staff in his hand
Because of great age.
5 The streets of the city
Shall be full of boys and girls
Playing in its streets.’
For many, summer is a wonderful time because we look forward to the sunshine and warm temperatures; the cookouts and family gatherings; children playing in the streets and the sounds of laughter and fun.
Unfortunately, for many, summer is not a wonderful time because we do not look forward to the sunshine and warm temperatures. Whereas many wonderful things happen, many terrible things happen also.
Nevertheless, God has called us to be people of prayer. I am requesting that the church join me in praying – consciously and intentionally – for our community for this summer.
Praying that God’s Presence, participation and power be present in our communities.
Praying that God’s angels will watch over the vulnerable in our communities (the seniors, the youth and children, young ladies and women, etc.).
Praying that peace and patience are virtues that are exercised throughout our communities when disagreements and differences erupt.
In addition, as we pray, may we also do – that is, in our conscious and intentional praying, may we pray for God to use us in making a difference where He has placed us. May we discover how God desires to us to be the instruments that will usher in His Presence, Participation and Power in our communities. May we discover why we are here…
