PRAYING AND GETTING WHAT YOU WANT
Many of us have heard the question, “How does The Father answer our prayers?” As well, many of us know that the answers that are commonly given are “Yes,” “No,” and/or “Wait.” Whereas, we have heard these answers, and possibly used these answers, to the question, “How does the Father answer our prayers?” I wonder how Jesus would answer that question. Praise God, Jesus did. Following is what Jesus said regarding how the Father answers our prayers:
Matthew 21:21-22 21 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. 22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
John 14:13, 14 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
John 15:16 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
John 16:23, 24 23 “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
According to Jesus there is not a “Yes,” “No,” and/or “Wait” answer to our prayers. According to Jesus, the Father answers “Yes.” Now, I know that you have heard and believed the “Yes,” “No,” and/or “Wait” answer to prayers all of your life. However, on today I ask the question, “Who are you going to believe? Those whom you have heard it from all of your life or Jesus?” I am choosing to believe Jesus.
Since it is true, and has been true for over two thousand years, that the Father answers “Yes,” where did we get the idea that the Father answers “Yes,” “No,” and/or “Wait?” No doubt, the idea came from those who prayed for something and did not receive it. Their response was to suggest that God must have said “No,” and/or “Wait.” Unfortunately, that response places the blame on the Father for their prayers not being answered. They are basically saying, “The Father is the reason why my prayer was not answered. Blame Him”
Now that we know that the Father answers “Yes,” we cannot blame the Father for our unanswered prayers. Perhaps we need to look at how and for what we pray…
