PASTOR D’S PEN – 1-4-2026

Happy New Year!! To God be the glory for another year! We are blessed to be a part of a new year and to prepare for the new things God has planned for the Kingdom of God through Pilgrim Rest. As we thank God for another year of ministry, please make special note our ministry focuses for 2026:

1. Discipleship: Matthew 28:19 – Therefore, go and make disciples of all

nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the

Holy Spirit,

a. Reaching those who have not returned.

b. Digital Discipleship

i. Social Media

2. Stewardship: Luke 12: 48b – From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

a. Pilgrim Rest has been given much. We have over 50,000 sq. ft. of building space.

b. How can we be better stewards of what God has given us?

c. Creating space for the community's needs.

d. Tithing: Individually and Communally

i. Giving our Time, Talent, and Treasure to sustain and uplift God’s Kingdom.

3. Partnership: Nehemiah 2:17-18 – Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” 18 I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. They replied, “Let us start rebuilding.” So they began this good work.

a. How can we partner with our community to bridge the gap in social problems for the marginalized?

4. Guardianship: Joshua 1:6-9 – Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

a. Identify your community and how we will connect to their needs and problems. What does God’s word say Christians should do about those problems? How can we use God’s word as a resource to draw in the community?

b. What are the needs of the church members and the community?
