God is Still in Control

All across this country, and perhaps, all across the world, there is shock and amazement over Donald Trump being elected as the 45th President of the United States. Indeed, the shock and amazement is shared by both the right and the left because all of the polls and projections had Mr. Trump trailing.

For some, Trump’s victory is a pleasant surprise and a dream come true. For others, his victory is a shocking reality and a nightmare. For those to whom this is a nightmare, it is being expressed in protests, tears, fears, anxiety, depression and other similar responses. Many are embracing for the rolling back of several progressive actions that have benefited the country, including President Obama’s signature legislation – The Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare).

In the midst of all of the emotions and feelings that are being expressed right now, I want to encourage us with five powerful words:

GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL

Yes, God is still in control. Please receive these reminders as we are encouraged to move forward:

Romans 13:1: Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

Remember, President Elect, Donald Trump, is President Elect because God appointed him to be. Believe me, if God did not him in that position, he would not be there.

1 Samuel 8:19-22: Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, “No, but we will have a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.” And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them in the hearing of the Lord. So the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed their voice, and make them a king…”

God will sometimes give to humanity what they desire even though it is not the best thing for them. The majority of people in this country wanted, nominated, voted for, and elected Donald Trump. God gave to the country who they wanted.

1 Timothy 6:15: He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, God is the King of kings and Lord of lords.

President Elect Trump may have a title, however Jesus is the blessed and only potentate. President Elect Trump will serve as the President, however, Jesus is the King of kings, Lord of lords and President of presidents.

Philippians 2:10-11: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father

Paul declares that every knee and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Believe me, Mr. Trump will bow and confess Jesus Christ as Lord.

Romans 8:31: What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

What shall we say? First, the “If” is better translated “Since”. Therefore, since God is for me, I do not have to worry about anything. ANYTHING
