EXPECTING THAT GOD WILL WORK…

EXPECTING THAT GOD WILL WORK IN SUPERNATURAL, EXTRAORDINARY AND MIRACULOUS WAYS IN OUR INDIVIDUAL LIVES, AND IN THE CORPORATE LIFE OF THE CHURCH

For the past several months, I have been encouraging us to live in the expectation that God will work in supernatural, extraordinary and miraculous ways in our individual lives, and in the corporate life of the church.

My prayer was that we would create a culture of expectation of God working in supernatural, extraordinary and miraculous ways in our lives individually, and in the life of the church corporately because we trusted what Jesus promised us. In John 14:12-14, Jesus said,

12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

Jesus promised us that we will do greater works than He did. Jesus did some amazing things: Jesus healed the sick. Jesus raised the dead. Jesus opened blinded eyes. Jesus unstopped deaf ears. Jesus was touched by those with infectious diseases (leprosy) and was not infected. Jesus sat and ate with those who were marginalized and ostracized. Jesus did some amazing things that holistically (spiritually, mentally, physically, economically, etc.) elevated the lives of those who came into His presence. Jesus’ promise and expectation is that we (all of us) will do equal and greater works than He did while on the earth.

Additionally, Paul affirmed in Ephesians 3:20,

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that

we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

May we live in the expectation that no matter what we face, no matter how difficult the challenge, no matter how long the darkness of night, no matter how many people walk away from us, no matter how heavy the burden, no matter how aggressive the enemy may attack, no matter how insufficient our resources, no matter…, God WILL DO exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
