TEXT: JOHN 1:6-9
TITLE: CAN I GET A WITNESS
INTRODUCTION
A. John came to be a witness
B. John was sent from God to be a witness of the Light that all might believe
C. John was sent to bear witness that the true Light gives light to every man
THE LAMB OF GOD
A. Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world
B. “This is He who comes after me is preferred before me. For He was before me”
C. “I do not know Him but he shall be revealed to Israel”
JOHN BORE THIS WITNESS
A. “I saw the Spirit descending from Heaven like a dove”
B. He who sent me to Baptist with water said “to whom upon you see the Spirit descending and remaining on Him this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit”
C. “I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God”
JOHN’S DISCIPLES AS WITNESS
A. Are you the Coming One, or do we look for another?
- Go and tell John the things that you hear and see
- The blind see and the lame walk. The lepers are cleaned and the deaf hear
- The dead are raised up and the gospel is preached to the poor
WE ARE CHRIST’S WITNESSES
A. “In the last days I will pour out my spirit on all people”
B. “You shall receive power and be my witnesses….and to the ends of the earth”
C. We must bear witness and testify of what we heard, seen and handled.
CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK:
LET OUR WITNESS BE THAT JESUS IS THE CHRIST
