TEXT: REVELATION 19:6-9

FOCUS VERSE: BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO ARE INVITED TO THE MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB (V9)

TITLE: JESUS IS THROWING A PARTY

INTRODUCTION

A.  Who sent the invitations…?

B.  The Good News Party

1. Good News to be shared and celebrated
2. The house is cleaned and adorned
3. The food is prepared
4. The host and hostess are dressed and waiting
5. Who sent the invitations?

THE PARTY (MARRIAGE FEAST)

A.  Scripture uses the imagery of the marriage to provide a visual representation of salvation in Christ.

B  The components of marriage were; Contract, Consummation, Celebration.

THE OCCASION FOR THIS PARTY

A.  “Babylon” has been defeated (Rev Chapters 17-18)

B.  Christ is returning as the Bridegroom to claim His Bride (the church)

C.  The contract is signed through our covenant with Him at our salvation

D.  The marriage is consummated with His second coming and the Celebration takes place in His Father’s house (heaven)

THE HOST OF THE PARTY

A.  Any good party has a noteworthy Host

B.  God wants all His children to be in celebration with Him

THE ATTENDEES OF THE PARTY

A.  The Church as the bride

B.  The Church as attendees

THE INVITATIONS GO OUT

A.  Who’s not there…and why?

B.  We (the assembly of believers) have always been intended to serve as invitations to the world

1. Genesis 12:2 – To Abraham
2. Isaiah 40:9 - To the children of Israel in bondage to Babylon
3. Matthew 28:16-20 – To the eleven disciples
4. Galatians 1:12 – To the church at large.

CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK:  TO SERVE AS AN INVITATION TO JESUS’ MARRIAGE FEAST TO SOMEONE WE MEET
