B. Jesus faced questions consistently from the religious leaders
C. Note: They were asking Jesus great questions
1. By what authority are You doing these things?
2. Who gave you this authority?
3. Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?
DISCERNMENT (To Know What The Real Question Is)
A. The question they asked: “In the resurrection, whose wife will she be?”
B. Note: The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection
C. Note: It was not uncommon for (1) man to have (7) wives. However, for (1) woman to have (7) husbands (each was legally married to her), in the
resurrection, was absurd / ridiculous / illogical / Twilight Zone
D. Note: If (1) woman having (7) husbands, in the resurrection, is “Twilight Zone”,
then the resurrection is “Twilight Zone”
E. The question was actually intended to refute the resurrection
F. Pray for DISCERNMENT to know what the real question is INSIGHT (To Know The Answer To The Real Question)
A. They thought it was two possible answers
1. If Jesus answered by picking one of them or all of them, it would have added to the “Resurrection Twilight Zone”
2. If Jesus answered by saying He did not know, it would question Jesus’
authority to know anything – No
Resurrection
B. Jesus, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God”
C. People try to lock us into binary choices
1. This or That / Yes or No / Up or Down / One or the Other / Do or Don’t
2. Pharisees: “Pay taxes to Caesar or not?”
3. Sadducees: “A wife to one or a wife to them all?
D. Pray for INSIGHT to know the answer to the real question
BOLDNESS (To Give The Answer To The Real Question)
A. Jesus answered the question they asked
1. Sadducees, “In the resurrection, whose wife will she be?”
2. Jesus, “None”
B. Jesus answered the real question
1. Jesus, “Now, as to the resurrection of the dead…”
2. Jesus, “Have you not read what God said to you?”
3. God, “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob”
4. Jesus, “God is the God of the living, not of the dead”
C. Pray for BOLDNESS to give the answer to the real question
