TITLE: DOING WHO I AM

INTRODUCTION

Dr. Antony Mensah, “Every child is influenced by 4 spiritual energies”

1. Mother’s Spirit (energy to know who I am)
2. Father’s Spirit (energy to do it)
3. Ancestral Spirit (energy out of which you came)
4. God’s Spirit (If God’s Spirit is within me, I cannot die until I do what I am supposed to do)

SAMUEL HAD A CALLING ON HIS LIFE

A. Samuel was born into it (Chapter 1:20, 22, 28)

B. Samuel grew up in it

1. Samuel did it – he ministered before the Lord as a child
2. Samuel looked it – he wore a linen ephod
3. Samuel’s mother reinforced it – she made him a little robe each year

C. You have a calling on your life

1. You were born into it
2. You grew up in it

D. Note to parents: We are not to mold our children into who we want them to be.

Rather, we are to mold them into who God created them to be

TIMING OF THE CALL

A. “The word of the Lord was rare in those days…”

B. “There was no widespread revelation…”

C. God was not talking very much // There were not a lot of people listening

D. I wonder, “Are we listening today?”

SETTING OF THE CALL

A. Eli: His eyesight had begun to grow so dim that he could not see

1.    The man of God was losing light (spiritually and physically)
2.    Today: The people of God are losing light (spiritually)

B. Temple: Before the lamp of God went out

1. The house of God was losing light
2. Today: The house of God [Church] is losing light

C. God speaks

PROCESS OF THE CALL

A. 1st Time The Lord called, “Samuel” Ran to Eli “Here I am”

B. 2nd Time The Lord called, “Samuel” Went to Eli “Here I am”

C. 3rd Time The Lord called, “Samuel” Went to Eli “Here I am”

D. 4th Time The Lord came, stood and called, Samuel, Samuel”

E. Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears”

F. My eyes focused and clear, so that I can see exactly what it is he is calling me to do

INITIATION OF THE CALL

A. God gave Samuel revelation regarding Eli’s situation

B. Samuel was afraid to share the revelation with Eli

C. Eli challenged Samuel to share the revelation from God to him

D. Samuel told him everything and hid nothing…
