SERMON TITLE: THE POWER OF A PRAYING CHURCH:
PRAYER PRECEDED POWER
INTRODUCTION
A. Every day, the Disciples saw Jesus do miraculous things…
B. Note, they did not ask Jesus to teach them how to do those things
1. They did not ask to be taught how to walk on water…
2. They did not ask to be taught how to cast out demons…
3. They did not ask to be taught how to heal the sick…
4. They did not ask to be taught how to raise the dead…
C. They recognized that the ability to do those things were grounded in Jesus’
prayer life
MATTHEW 14:22-25
A. Jesus prayed, then had the power to walk on what was in between Him and attaining His goal
B. Does my praying empower me to walk on what is in between me and my goals?
MARK 1:35-39
A. Jesus prayed, then had the power to liberate people from what had possessed and taken control of them
B. Does my praying empower me to liberate people from what possesses and takes
control of them?
LUKE 5:15, 16
A. Jesus prayed, then had the power to draw people to Him for His words and works
B. Does my praying empower me to draw people to me for my words and works?
JOHN 11:41-44
A. Jesus prayed, then had the power to bring new life to what was dead
B. Does my praying empower me to bring new life to what is dead?
