TEXT: MARK 16:9-20
INTRODUCTION
- We generally get what we expect
- What do you expect?
EXPECT NOTHING, RECEIVE NOTHING
- Mary Magdalene – Told the Apostles that Jesus was alive and had been seen by her – They did not believe
- Two of them traveling to Emmaus – Told the Apostles that Jesus appeared to
them – They did not believe them
MEETING JESUS, AGAIN, RAISES EXPECTATION
- Jesus appeared to them
- Jesus rebuked them
- He rebuked their unbelief
- He rebuked their hardness of heart
- Because they did not believe those who had seen Him…
- Jesus commanded them
- Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature
- Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved
- Whoever does not believe will be condemned
- Jesus empowered them (“In My name…”)
- They will cast out demons
- They will speak with new tongues
- They will pick up serpents
- They will drink poison without being harmed
- They will lay hands on the sick, and the sick will recover
EXPECT MUCH, RECEIVE MUCH
- The Apostles went out
- The Apostles preached everywhere
- The Lord worked with them and confirmed the word with the accompanying
