TEXT: I SAMUEL 2:18-21; 3:1-21  

INTRODUCTION

  1. Samuel’s life was a life of sacrifice
    1. His mother, Hannah, sacrificed her son to the LORD
    2. His mother, Hannah, sacrificed her son to the house of the LORD
  2. Samuel served sacrificially
  3. The benefit and blessing of a child sacrificed to the LORD
    1. Benefit =
    2. Blessing =

SAMUEL MINISTERED TO THE LORD

  1. Samuel ministered to the LORD
  2. Samuel did not know the LORD
  3. The word of the LORD was not yet revealed to him
  4. How could Samuel minister to the LORD without knowing the LORD?
  5. The blessings of ministering to the LORD without knowing the LORD
  6. The burdens of ministering to the LORD without knowing the LORD

MINISTERING TO THE LORD IS NOT ALWAYS EASY

  1. Samuel’s relationship with Eli
  2. Samuel was afraid to tell Eli what the LORD said
  3. Samuel shares God’s judgment against Eli
  4. Eli’s response, “He is the LORD. Let Him do what seems good to Him”
  5. Although it is not easy, it is doable
  6. My ministry belongs to God
  7. My responsibility: Be Faithful and Obedient
  8. God’s Responsibility: Deal with the Details

MINISTERING TO THE LORD HAS REWARDS

  1. Samuel grew
  2. The LORD was with Samuel
  3. Samuel was successful in his ministry
  4. Everyone knew that Samuel was the LORD’s prophet
