EXPECTING THAT GOD WILL WORK IN SUPERNATURAL, EXTRAORDINARY AND MIRACULOUS WAYS IN OUR INDIVIDUAL LIVES, AND IN THE CORPORATE LIFE OF THE CHURCH
During the season of Lent, I shared that we would pray for and expect to experience miracles. After the season of Lent, I shared that the end of the season of Lent did not end the expectation of experiencing miracles. Although the expectation was established during Lent, it will be sustained throughout the life of the church.
My prayer is that we create a culture of expectation of God working in supernatural, extraordinary and miraculous ways in our lives individually, and in the life of the church corporately.
How can we expect that God will work in supernatural, extraordinary and miraculous ways in our individual lives, and in the corporate life of the church? We can expect it because Jesus said in John 14:12-14,
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
Did you catch that? Jesus said that we will do greater works than He did. Jesus did some amazing things: Jesus healed the sick. Jesus raised the dead. Jesus opened blinded eyes. Jesus unstopped deaf ears. Jesus was touched by those with infectious diseases (leprosy) and was not infected. Jesus sat and ate with those who were marginalized and ostracized. Jesus did some amazing things that holistically (spiritually, mentally, physically, economically, etc.) elevated the lives of those who came into His presence.
Jesus’ promise and expectation is that we (all of us) will do equal and greater works than He did while on the earth. As we will discover on today, doing equal and greater works than Jesus is both possible and doable. How?:
- Believe (Believe in Jesus / Have Faith in Jesus)
- Hear (Do not Quench and/or Grieve the Indwelling Holy Spirit)
- Do (Knowing that Jesus is Working Through Me)
